My life with Cozy designer, builder and flyer, Nat Puffer

I first met Nat when he came home on leave from the Navy. He went out and rented a Waco biplane to take me flying. It was my first airplane ride. I had shoulder length hair that streamed in the breeze.

Later, after we were married, in the 50s we started a flying club at 3M. We had a partnership in a Stinson Voyager. One summer, with our 3 kids in the back of the Stinson, we flew out to California to visit Nat's relatives in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Colorado Springs. My parents were really worried, but Nat brought us back okay.

While the kids were growing up (and going to medical school) we were involved in other things, but then Nat started building a Varieze. He finished it in 18 months, and that started a new life. We were instant celebreties. I liked the Varieze just fine, but Nat had this idea about a side-by-side.

When he started building again, I felt a little left out. He suggested that I get back into painting. That is what started my other interest in life. When we retired and moved to Arizona, Nat said he wanted to build a shop. I told him I wanted an art studio the same exact size as his shop. He granted my wish. Since then, whenever people stop in to talk about airplanes, they have to go through my studio to get to his shop. Usually they do not leave without buying one or more pictures. We now have airplane friends with my watercolors all over the world.

We both have hobbies which have generated many new friends and are keeping us very busy. I am a jurried member of the Northstar and Arizona Watercolor Assocs.
